Join us for a celebration 50 years in the making! The World's Largest Peanut has a time capsule that was buried 50 years ago on June 16, 1973! The one thing local leaders and agricultural members did not keep record of...what is in the capsule!
On June 16th, 2023 we will all find out on the corner of 3rd and Evergreen in front of Durant City Hall.
3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- City Council Chambers open to public with selected Peanut Time Capsule representatives at tables featuring peanut farming implements and historical items.
5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Community gameshow “Guess What It Is”? Members of the public will attempt to guess what farming tool is showcased and what it was used for! Prizes are awarded for correct answers! Petey races on the lawn, special kids games, and more!
6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- Peanut Time Capsule Unveiling! Selected members from the Peanut Time Capsule Planning Committee will reveal each item in the capsule as special handlers showcase the items to the public.
